12 days until my birthday. I expect you all will have organized my gifts by now. They should be in the mail at least. 😀

Early Birthdays
This year, as most of you will know, I’m turning thirty. Yes, really. I know it’s hard to believe, but it’s true.
Personally, I think this is a pretty cool prospect. And I’m not freaked out by it. Not at all.
The best part about it so far is that I’ve received some early birthday pressies. A fabulous digital SLR camera , and the much coveted KitchenAid mixer. The camera will come in extremely handy on our upcoming trip to Egypt. This is why I got it early – Paul thought I should have the opportunity to learn how to use it before we go. I’m hoping that I can get some of that old creativity back that I seemed to have in uni. I’m really excited about it. If I can just figure out how to run it!
The mixer has already proven itself. I made a brioche yesterday, which turned out really well. I was impressed by this. My bread baking attempts in the past haven’t turned out well, but this was pretty good. And I also made chocolate banana muffins for this week’s breakfast. I love my new mixer. Maybe I’ll post some pictures later.
In other news, Paul and I had a delicious lunch at our friends’ today. We had a yummy pork roast with crackling , roast potatoes and other vegetables. We had to go all the way to North London (not really known territory for us – we live south of the river), but it was definitely worth it. We also got a good nose around their brand new flat – great place girls!
I’m also desperately trying to get over a cold which has been plaguing me for weeks. No matter how many lemsips I take, it just doesn’t seem to want to go. I blame the changing English weather . Hopefully this week is the week I shake it for good. Otherwise, I’m going to be counting on sunny Egypt to get me over it.

So, at the weekend Paul and I went to see the The Proclaimers. I can’t even BEGIN tell you how much that rocked.
We saw them at the Hammersmith Apollo. Not a bad venue, really – a good size. I’m not sure what I expected, I guess. It’s an old fashioned type theater, with a ground floor and balcony seating. The ground floor was all standing – Paul and I were upstairs in the balcony. We actually had seats! Craziness, at a concert.
Seeing The Proclaimers live was pretty awesome. For as big a venue as it was, it was a surprisingly intimate show. It was very much like it was a small gig, and their performance was great. It was a good crowd too – a different type of crowd from that which was at the Franz Ferdinand concert we went to what seems like ages ago now. First of all, there was no pushing and hassle from the crowd, but I guess overall it was a much older crowd. Fair enough, I suppose. We heard all the favorites, from I’m On My Way, to Letter from America, right down to I’m Gonna Be.We even got to hear Sunshine on Leith! What more could you ask for?
Even with that extensive playlist, the night seemed really short. We could have done with them playing a bit longer, but I guess if we didn’t want to turn into pumpkins, then the timing was quite right.
Great concert, really. And I don’t think Paul was too embarrassed. I mean, he did get up and dance and sing. And he wouldn’t have done that if he was dying of embarrassment.
I told you they were his favorites! We’ll have to see if we can get tickets to another Proclaimers gig. I think he’d really like that!
Here comes the weekend

Today is almost over, and I can’t help but think of the coming weekend. Guess what we’re doing? Anything? Anything? Nah, I didn’t think you could guess.
We’re headed out on Saturday to see The Proclaimers. They are Paul’s number 1 favorite band, you know, being Scottish and all. 😀 It is going to be excellent.
I’ve moved
Office, that is. Work has moved me again. I now work in big posh building in the city. And guess what? My window now looks out on a big green grassy area. And people play soccer and cricket there. It’s pretty sweet.
