We LOVE our car

Yippee!! It’s so good to have a car. Very indulgent, to a point, I guess, but it’s soooo good to have a car. We have so much freedom now it seems. It’s lovely. Last night, we went to a grocery store around town, and today, we woke up late, but still managed to take a day trip.

We went to Bodiam Castle. Very cool. Looks like a fairy tale castle – exactly what you think of when you think of medieval castle. It’s got the towers, the moat, everything. And nowhere near a train station!!!! It is SO good to have a car again. Normal life has almost resumed 100%.

So much, so much

Just a quick update here! We’ve been busy, and I’ve had no time to devote to the site. I wanted to share some news and also let you know really quickly what Paul and I have been up to.

Paul and I went to Nice in February, which was great. While we were there we took the train down to Monaco for the day. Also, we’ve had tons of people round, for dinner and the like, but we’ve also had company here. Friends from the states stayed with us for a while.

We have also, and this is our really big news, wait for it… bought a CAR!! I know, how great! We got ourselves a Ford Focus, and no, it’s not silver! We’re so tickled, and we’re planning our weekend already, as well as all our future trips. We have so many ideas – I can’t wait for our first road trip!

Here are some pics for now. We’ll put photos up from Nice soon as well.

Alright, duck…

…and I say, what? Yes, today I was greeted by a cab driver with this: Alright, duck? Okay, since moving to this country, I have been called love, chick, and even doll and hen by my own husband. Duck is a new one. I must say, I’m not sure what to think! 🙂

Vegetarian Chili?

So, if you ever need a recipe for vegetarian chili, with a little adjustments mom’s works out really well. Just omit the ground beef, use the celery and green peppers (which mom doesn’t normally add) and also add in a red pepper, some mushrooms and a can of black beans. Do the rest as normal and you’ll have a tasty meatless chili.

It turned out really well. The meat wasn’t missed at all, and I know I’ll make it again – even if we don’t have a veggie coming to dinner!

It snowed!!

And the whole of London grinds to a halt.

But isn’t it pretty? First real snowfall I’ve seen in…well, let’s say a while.

backyard_snow

Yes, we got 4 inches of snow, and it’s pretty much gone now. I didn’t get in to work because of the trains being knackered, but because the system I work with is online, I was able to just work from home. Paul was the same. Surprisingly, I got quite a bit done. I wouldn’t have thought it would work out so well, but it did. The snow was awfully pretty, though. And it was so nice not having to fight the train crowd this morning. They aren’t the most pleasant bunch in the world.
