Tassies

Even though I had a million other things to do to get ready for our trip to Scotland, I spent the better part of the day before baking. I thought I would share with you a picture of some of the fruits of my labor.

Pumpkin and Chocolate tassies

These are pumpkin sour cream and brownie tassies. Now that I’m back down South from up North, I can say that they went down really well. I also made chocolate chip cookies, pumpkin cookies, ginger snaps and oatmeal macaroons. It truly was Christmas cookie heaven in our house!

Is it Christmas yet?

The last few months for me have been busy. I may have mentioned this before. But now Christmas is on its way, and I’ve got some time off to do not very much, which has been long anticipated. However, while doing not very much is on my list of things to do, other items have come higher. This weekend, I finally got some shelving put up in our back room, and I’ve also finally put up some of our Christmas decorations. I’ve decided against the tree this year, as we’ll be headed up North to spend Christmas with my MIL. This wasn’t the original plan, but it should be a nice time just the same. I’m hoping we can get out a bit to do a bit of looking around, and maybe even see some snow.

Today, I’ve done some Christmas baking, with two batches of cookies. Tomorrow, the plan is to make a couple more batches of cookies and finish off my Christmas shopping, and then we should be all set for Christmas.

In the meantime, as things are still pretty quiet around here, I’ll leave you with another photo from Chatsworth. Maybe in another week I’ll have some nice pictures of Scotland for you!

Boring and cold, huh?

I was on my way home today when I was waylaid by a young man full of Christmas spirit. As he proceeded to grab my hand and kiss it, he declared that I was both, boring AND cold.  I tried to explain to him that yes, while I was boring and cold, I was also not interested in his attention. That didn’t however, prevent him from trying to persuade me to go the same direction as him and his friend. Thank goodness for the friend. He provided a distraction as I escaped towards the underground.

Somehow I think his Christmas spirit was of the alcoholic variety.
