A Paul Picture

Have “younz” seen this yet? No, I don’t think you have.

Check it out.

Paul at the Alamo

It’s a picture of Paul at the Alamo, with some guys who were dressed up doing demonstrations. We don’t know what these guys were doing, as Paul just wandered up and asked if we could snap a picture. He feigned no interest in learning anything!

Typical Approach

So, we have no money, have to replace our boiler, and so, what is our typical approach? We book a holiday.

Only a small one, though! I have a couple of days off, in between my old job and new job, so Paul has decided we should take our first car journey of the year. We’re headed off to Normandy for a couple of days, which I am very excited about. We’re slowing dipping in and exploring France one trip at a time.

It’s a pretty good thing we’ve got going.

Happy Birthday, Paulie!!!

Here’s a bright eyed Paul on his way in to work this morning. Notice the sticker on his chest? His loving in-laws sent it to him for his birthday this year. Talk about gifts! Paul IS an incredibly smart, exciting, good-looking person!

Happy Birthday, Paul!

Mark the date

I’m busy on June 27. I’m sorry, but someone needs to tell my sister she can’t get married on this day.

I’m going to Glasgow. I’m going to go see one of those elusive bands which I haven’t ever seen. I saw U2 at Twickenham, so it isn’t them.

Nope, not U2 this time. I’m going to go to Glasgow to see Radiohead, and I am very happy about that. :-D

Year-end round up

My last post might be making some of you wonder just what indeed did we get up to this last year. In fact, that post even has me scratching my head and wondering what we’ve done. So, for those of you that missed it, here’s quick run down on the places we’ve been and the things we’ve seen in 2007.

January

The year didn’t start off with a bang. January 2007 was pretty uneventful for us. I started a new job and London saw snow.

February

In February, Paul and I went to Nice, France. I spent most of my time at a conference for work, while Paul wandered the streets of Nice during the day. We enjoyed the French Riviera night life, and on the weekend we did manage to get to Monaco. Too bad, though, as we missed out on Cannes.

More pictures of the trip are available in the Gallery here. We were there during Carnival, so ended up getting pictures from the parades and other celebrations.

March dsc01566

We had a busy March. Our friends Tom and Mere came to visit, which meant lots of sightseeing and late nights out. Not only did we show them the city, we also took them out to see Windsor Castle.

We had even more excitement in March when we bought our car. This allowed us to begin to explore more of our surroundings.

We finally made our way to Bodiam Castle and then made our plans to take on France!

April

We spent some much needed time up North in April. We drove up to see Paul’s family and while we were there we visited Glamis Castle.

Paul also took me to Backwater Reservoir, which is where I shot that pretty picture which graces our website header.

May

In May, we took our car across to the Continent for the first time. We stayed in a nice little town called Bergues in Northern France. And just for fun, we took Flat Stanley along.

Hello, weJune – July

At the end of June, it was home for my friend Kelli’s wedding. Then the majority of July was spent showing mom and dad around Scotland and England – once we finally got out of Charlotte. I think everyone had fun and the time just seemed to fly by. I think Mom and Dad are secretly planning their next trip back.

And then Paul went to Houston without me.

August

This month we went to France again. We spent our time trundling around the Ardennes and the Champagne region. It was good fun guzzling champagne at Moet & Chandon. I wonder if we’ll ever drink that bottle we brought back?

September

We spent one quick day in France during September. A small day trip really broke things up for us and was a perfect little treat before fall and winter set in.

Octoberdsc02043

The big event in October was seeing The Proclaimers live at the Hammersmith Apollo. In case you don’t know, The Proclaimers are Paul’s FAVORITE music group. And wouldn’t you know, they’re Scottish too!

And Paul’s such a sweetie, he even made sure Mom and Dad got a copy of their greatest hits album to take on their roadtrip to New Hampshire! Wasn’t that nice of him, sharing cultures like that?

dsc_0066November & December

And the last two months of the year have been pretty much written off with a trip to Egypt and the States. Plus one final trip North for the year.

In November, we headed off to Sharm el-Sheik for my 30th birthday, and were able to fit in a day trip to Jerusalem.

Once we returned, we then jetted off to Houston (3 weeks for me, 4 weeks for Paul) and I was able to have Thanksgiving with Mom and Dad for the first time in years.

And finally, we ended the year with a trip North to visit Paul’s family for Christmas.

Whew… what a whirlwind of a year! I wonder what we can do in 2008 to top it – if that’s even possible!
