So, at the weekend Paul and I went to see the The Proclaimers. I can’t even BEGIN tell you how much that rocked.
We saw them at the Hammersmith Apollo. Not a bad venue, really – a good size. I’m not sure what I expected, I guess. It’s an old fashioned type theater, with a ground floor and balcony seating. The ground floor was all standing – Paul and I were upstairs in the balcony. We actually had seats! Craziness, at a concert.
Seeing The Proclaimers live was pretty awesome. For as big a venue as it was, it was a surprisingly intimate show.
It was very much like it was a small gig, and their performance was great. It was a good crowd too – a different type of crowd from that which was at the Franz Ferdinand concert we went to what seems like ages ago now. First of all, there was no pushing and hassle from the crowd, but I guess overall it was a much older crowd. Fair enough, I suppose. We heard all the favorites, from I’m On My Way, to Letter from America, right down to I’m Gonna Be.We even got to hear Sunshine on Leith! What more could you ask for?
Even with that extensive playlist, the night seemed really short. We could have done with them playing a bit longer, but I guess if we didn’t want to turn into pumpkins, then the timing was quite right.
Great concert, really. And I don’t think Paul was too embarrassed. I mean, he did get up and dance and sing. And he wouldn’t have done that if he was dying of embarrassment.
I told you they were his favorites! We’ll have to see if we can get tickets to another Proclaimers gig. I think he’d really like that!
