Alright, duck…

…and I say, what? Yes, today I was greeted by a cab driver with this: Alright, duck? Okay, since moving to this country, I have been called love, chick, and even doll and hen by my own husband. Duck is a new one. I must say, I’m not sure what to think! :-)

Vegetarian Chili?

So, if you ever need a recipe for vegetarian chili, with a little adjustments mom’s works out really well. Just omit the ground beef, use the celery and green peppers (which mom doesn’t normally add) and also add in a red pepper, some mushrooms and a can of black beans. Do the rest as normal and you’ll have a tasty meatless chili.

It turned out really well. The meat wasn’t missed at all, and I know I’ll make it again – even if we don’t have a veggie coming to dinner!

It snowed!!

And the whole of London grinds to a halt.

But isn’t it pretty? First real snowfall I’ve seen in…well, let’s say a while.

Yes, we got 4 inches of snow, and it’s pretty much gone now. I didn’t get in to work because of the trains being knackered, but because the system I work with is online, I was able to just work from home. Paul was the same. Surprisingly, I got quite a bit done. I wouldn’t have thought it would work out so well, but it did. The snow was awfully pretty, though. And it was so nice not having to fight the train crowd this morning. They aren’t the most pleasant bunch in the world.
