Weekend plans

So, this weekend we’re going out with our friends, David and Suzy. We haven’t seen them in ages, so it will good to catch up. The four of us are planning on heading off to Brick Lane for a curry and a pint. Now, I’m really looking forward to that. I’ve never been to Brick Lane, although I’ve wanted to for some time. I don’t really know why I’m so interested in going. I think mainly it just seems like it’s an experience I have to mark off a list. I guess there isn’t a lot to see there, just tons of stuff to eat and take in.

For those of you who dont’ know, Brick Lane is a street in East London, where you can find numerous Indian restaurants. I’m rubbish at explaining, so visit here to learn more. I’ll let you all know how the evening goes.

Chocolate Rice Pudding, yum

I think that title says it all. Being a very big glutton on Sunday, I made us a nice lamb roast, with mint sauce, roast vegetables and for dessert, chocolate rice pudding. Now, the roast was absolutely lovely, and the veg was pretty good, but this rice pudding was utterly amazing. And incredibly easy to make. I’m stunned by how absolutely mindless it was. Pretty much mix it all together and stick in the oven to cook to a gooey mass, stirring occaisionally. I got the recipe from a sainsbury’s magazine, but it’s Nigella Lawson, a version of the one she published in Feast. I have to say, if you can, try it out. There certainly wasn’t much left of it once Paul and I were through. Yum.

Roll on November…

I am in such need of a holiday – for reasons I cannot go into here, but I really can’t wait to get away. And boy do I have ‘em coming too. The last weekend in October we’re headed to Brussels, and then, for my birthday, we’re heading to Luxor, Egypt. I absolutely cannot wait. We’re going to do a little touring around in Brussels, but mainly we’re just going to be enjoying the cafe culture and beer. It’s going to be brilliant.

But, Egypt is going to be so much better. For a week plus, we’re going to be hanging around the Nile, seeing the Valley of the Kings, eating gorgeous food, laying around by the pool… Bliss.
